Rupert Murdoch: Ben Carson Would Be a 'Real Black President'

Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch has suggested that President Barack Obama is not a "real black president."

The 84-year-old billionaire said in a tweet late Wednesday that Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson would give the U.S. "a real black president who can properly address the racial divide."

The American-Australian business magnate tweeted an apology Thursday — 12 hours after the original message — saying there was "no offence meant" and that he found "both men charming," presumably referring to Obama and Carson.

He's vowing to crack down on extremist schools and institutions that are radicalizing young people there.

His speech comes after numerous British youths fled the country to join ISIS terrorists fighting in Iraq and Syria.

US pastor stole thousands from church to fund affair

A pastor has been charged with stealing from his congregation in order to fund an affair, according to Fox2Now.

Ralph Sawyer, the former pastor of Lindsay Lane Missionary Baptist Church in Florissant, Missouri had stolen over $21,000 from his church in order to pay a 20-year-old woman with whom he had been having an affair.

Florissant Police Detective Andy Haarmann told Fox2Now that Sawyer "said he initiated a relationship with a young lady. As a result of that relationship he withdrew the funds to help continue the relationship."

Bill would protect clergy who won't perform gay marriages

TALLAHASSEE — Legislation designed to shield religious leaders from being targeted for refusing to perform same-sex marriages won a House panel's approval Wednesday, but only after clergy members spoke vehemently for and against the bill.

Opponents of the bill say it's unnecessary since the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution protects religious freedom, with some going so far as to say it smacks of anti-gay discrimination.

"I'm really concerned about the overt premise of this bill ... which seems to be that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people are to be feared," said the Rev. Brant Copeland of the First Presbyterian Church of Tallahassee. "I find that premise very disturbing and inaccurate."

The measure, HB 43, passed along party lines, with nine Republicans voting in favor and the four Democrats on the House Civil Justice subcommittee voting no.

For supporters, the bill is essential to protect clergy members' consciences and houses of worship from being legally targeted. The country is moving too swiftly in the direction of protections for same-sex couples, they say, which could lead to the trampling of the rights of those refusing to perform same-sex weddings.

Their refusal to bake a cake for a same-sex wedding has led to the loss of their business, a threat of a property lien, and a $135,000 fine -- all for committing a crime equivalent to a traffic violation in the state of Oregon.

Despite a tough few years, the couple remains determined to stand strong and not pay for exercising their constitutional rights.

"We feel very strong that we need to stand strong in this and if we just hand it over, we're giving up this fight. We're giving in and we're saying, 'Okay, you win,' and we're not standing up for the next person," said Melissa Klein, former owner of Sweet Cakes by Melissa.

To misunderstand the nature and threat of evil is to risk being blindsided by it. Fourteen years ago — on September 11, 2001 — America was blindsided by the forces of radical Islam. Today, President Obama and members of his administration still refuse to use the term “radical Islam,” even as Jordan’s King Abdullah II, a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad, candidly admits that the West is engaged in a “third world war” against Islamic terrorism. Abdullah adds that, at its core, “this is a Muslim problem. We need to take ownership of this. We need to stand up and say what is right and what is wrong.” 

The king is right. The threat of radical Islam to the U.S. and our allies is serious and ongoing. 

That said, there is a dramatic shift underway in the Muslim world. The most serious threat we face in the Middle East and North Africa is no longer radical Islam but apocalyptic Islam. 

We face not just one but two regional regimes whose rulers are driven not merely by violent political ideology, or by extremist theology, but by apocalyptic, genocidal eschatology, or End Times theology. 

Facebook will use satellites to beam internet to large parts of Africa

In its latest effort to open up Internet access to developing markets, Facebook has partnered with French satellite company Eutelsat Communications.

The ensuing initiative, which spans a number of years, is scheduled for launch in the latter half of 2016, and will “leverage satellite technologies to get more Africans online,” according to a press release. It will use the upcoming AMOS-6 satellite, a $200 million, 5-ton satellite built by Israel Aerospace Industries. Facebook and Eutelsat say they will create a system specifically aimed at bringing connectivity to large swaths of Sub-Saharan Africa, and that the system will be “optimised for community and Direct-to-User Internet access using affordable, off-the-shelf customer equipment.”

For this latest project,  Eutelsat is setting up a new company, based in London, to oversee the African satellite broadband rollout. Facebook says it will work with “local partners” across Africa to help deliver services, using both satellite and terrestrial capacity.

“Facebook’s mission is to connect the world and we believe that satellites will play an important role in addressing the significant barriers that exist in connecting the people of Africa,” said Chris Daniels, VP of Facebook’s Internet.org program. “We are looking forward to partnering with Eutelsat on this project and investigating new ways to use satellites to connect people in the most remote areas of the world more efficiently.”

Ben Carson Draws Gasps From Crowd, Glares From Hosts as He Takes Strong Anti-Abortion Stand on ‘The View’

Famed neurosurgeon and 2016 presidential contender Dr. Ben Carson faced-off against the women of “The View” on Tuesday after he decried abortion and said that “we’re killing babies all over the place.”

“In my case, I spent my entire career trying to preserve life and give people quality of life,” he said, explaining his past operations on premature babies and babies still in the womb. “There is no way you’re going to convince me that they’re not important, that they’re just a mass of cells.”

Host Whoopi Goldberg countered by asking whether Carson has “met with the women who have to make these horrendous decisions,” and questioned whether the Republican candidate is empathetic — to which he said that he is.

Carson then explained his belief that the private sector must provide adequate daycare so that mothers who choose to have their babies can get GEDs and finish their education.

“You’re assuming that these are mothers who aren’t educated,” Goldberg countered, with the crowd gasping and moaning when Carson said that most of them fit that description.

Christians in Syria Struggle to Survive amid Terrors

His 6-year-old daughter still wakes up screaming, more than three years after the sounds and sights of war first gave her night terrors.

At least a few times each week, she wakes up with her muscles clenched, her head thrown back and her mouth open, screaming. Her father, a pastor in western Syria, had already taken his family and fled to another city in Syria after her terrors began, only to find that the war followed them there. Now they live in the quiet – for now – city of Sweida, but the night terrors still come.

“Doctors told us this is just from the fear,” he said. “We rely on the Lord.”

The pastor, whose name is withheld for security reasons, and his family typify the many Christians scrambling to survive in Syria. With an estimated 700,000 of Syria’s pre-war population of 1.4 million Christians having already fled, he too harbors the question, “Should I flee my country, and if so, when and where should I go?”

In a country where the Islamic State (IS) is carving out a caliphate with atrocities committed against those who don’t swear allegiance to it, it is a high-stakes question. In an unnamed village outside Aleppo, according to Christian Aid Mission, which assists indigenous Christian workers in their native countries, Islamic State militants on Aug. 28 crucified four Christians, including a 12-year-old boy, and beheaded eight others in separate executions. The boy was the son of a Syrian ministry team leader who had planted nine churches.

“In front of the team leader and relatives in the crowd, the Islamic extremists cut off the fingertips of the boy and severely beat him, telling his father they would stop the torture only if he, the father, returned to Islam,” Christian Aid reported. “When the team leader refused, relatives said, the ISIS militants also tortured and beat him and the two other ministry workers. The three men and the boy then met their deaths in crucifixion.” 

American fears Over Religious Freedom Have Increased in Last Three Years

October 5, 2015— Kim Davis, the elected clerk who recently made national headlines over her refusal to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, has become just the latest figure in the debate over same-sex marriage and religious liberty. When the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in June 2015 that same-sex marriage must be made legal in all 50 states, millions of Americans were eager to know the potential impacts of the decision on religious liberty.

A new study from Barna Group reveals the tension many Americans are feeling on the topic of religious freedom. Overall, the research reveals a significant rise in Americans’ belief that religious freedom is worse today than 10 years ago (up from 33% in 2012 to 41% today). The research was conducted between August 7 and September 6, 2015, which places the findings after the Supreme Court decision and before Kim Davis was released from jail; in fact, most of the interviewing was done before the Davis story made headlines. Barna Group’s 2015 research was commissioned by Alliance Defending Freedom and the study repeated the same survey questions as Barna’s 2012 study on religious freedom. Here are some observations based on the key findings of the study:

Concerns Over Religious Freedom Have Grown Across the Board 

Concern about religious freedom in the U.S. has grown among every segment since the 2012 study. The growth from one-third of the general population (33%) expressing concern over religious freedom in 2012 to the more than four in 10 adults today (41%) is mirrored among the generations as well. Among Millennials, there’s been a nine percentage point increase in those who say that religious freedom is worse today than it was 10 years ago (25% to 34%); the increase is even more marked among Gen-Xers (29% to 42%) and Boomers (38% to 46%).

As might be expected, religious Americans are more likely to express anxiety over the state of religious freedom in the United States than other segments. Evangelicals (see the definition below in the “About the Research” section) are the group most likely to feel the squeeze on religious freedom. More than three-quarters (77%) say religious liberty is worse off today than 10 years ago, compared to six in 10 (60%) in 2012. This 2015 figure is the highest among all segments by 18 percentage points.

Google is now Alphabet

Google officially became Alphabet after markets closed Friday and will start trading as such Monday morning, the company reports on its investor-relations page.

Google announced in early August that it planned to blow up its corporate structure by forming a new parent company called Alphabet to allow its different businesses to operate independently and move faster.

Google's core business — which encompasses search, YouTube, and Android — will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Alphabet, separate from smaller units like the hardware-maker Nest or "moonshot" factory Google X, which will be set up as their own companies under Alphabet as well.

Each division will have its own CEO, and Larry Page will be CEO of Alphabet.

Divers start work on the world's first Underwater Orthodox church, 20 metres deep

Construction of the world's first underwater Orthodox church has begun off the coast of Crimea.

The project is backed by Archimandrite Tikhon, himself a keen diver, the 'Mother of the Beavers' diving club in Sevastopol and the Night Wolves motorcycle gang, known for their right-wing nationalism.

The church is to be built around 100 metres off the coast of Cape Fiolent, near Sevastopol, at a depth of around 20 metres.

The first part to be erected was a three-metre tall cross incorporating a ship's anchor design.

Archimandrite Tikhon told RIA Novosti that the building would look like a normal church. "Inside there will be images, icons – everything that you would find in a church," he said.

This Facebook 'privacy notice' is a hoax, and you shouldn't bother sharing it

I was resting on my bed and the angel said, “Come, it’s time to go to the Council.” So immediately we were standing near a group of people that were all sitting in a circle around a fire and it looked a setting from ancient bible times. Some had their heads covered, some were reclining, but they were all waiting for something. I looked around as they all waited, and I began to have a vision of a baby that was restless and upset, so I saw 2 large hands place it on a mother’s chest, and soon the baby settled down as it began to hear the mother’s heart beat. The baby got into rhythm with the mothers heartbeat and it was soon resting. The vision left, and I was still standing there watching the council. 

All of a sudden it seemed like time itself slowed down and everything became suspended. I could hear my own breathing and I could hear the fire as it crackled, but nothing moved. Then it was like everything became still inside and outside, it was all suspended somehow, and I was aware of only the Lord. I could feel Him everywhere, inside me, and also all around. The entire atmosphere was charged with Him. A rush then came and we all were illuminated from within. It was like His living essence swirling in our cells, and we all saw with perfect clarity and heard Him speaking with clear understanding, for we were in Him. I then saw us all suspended within His heart. We were of one heart and one mind, within Him, and we were in His heart, and we all understood His mind. This was full union. 

Argentine President: Obama Official Wanted Nuclear Fuel for Iran in 2010

Earlier this week Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, President of Argentina for nearly eight years, spoke before the United Nations General Assembly in New York City and claimed that in 2010 the Obama administration tried to convince the Argentinians to provide Iran with nuclear fuel, a key component of nuclear weapons, reports Mediaite. 

Kirchner said that two years into Obama's first term, he sent Gary Samore, former White House Coordinator for Arms Control and Weapons of Mass Destruction, to press Argentina to provide Iran with nuclear fuel:

"In 2010 we were visited in Argentina by Gary Samore, at that time the White House's top advisor in nuclear issues. He came to see us in Argentina with a mission, with an objective: under the control of IAEA, the international organization in the field of weapons control and nuclear regulation, Argentina had supplied in the year 1987, during the first democratic government, the nuclear fuel for the reactor known as 'Teheran.'

Microsoft Outlook is going to work a lot more like Facebook

Facebook-style likes and mentions are coming to Microsoft Outlook in the web browser, the company announced this week in a blog entry.

Basically, you'll be able to "like" an e-mail in a chain, and those likes will show up to everybody in the e-mail thread. Microsoft says this is designed to highlight the most important, relevant messages in a thread for further discussion.

Russian scientist injects himself with ancient 'immortality' bacteria. Watch the video.

A Russian scientist has injected himself with a 3.5 million-year-old bacteria that could hold the key to immortality. Anatoli Brouchkov from Moscow State University, said since injecting himself with Bacillus F he is able to work for longer and has not had the flu for two years.

The bacteria was found in Siberian permafrost on Mamontova Gora in 2009. Since then, scientists have used it to experiment on plants, mice and human blood cells, with tests showing it improved longevity and fertility. It appeared to heal plants and restore the ability to reproduce in older mice.

So Brouchkov decided to start experimenting with the bacteria on himself. In an interview with Russia Today, he said: "I started to work longer, I've never had a flu for the last two years. But it still [needs more] experiments. We have to work out how this bacteria prevents ageing. I think that is the way this science should develop. What is keeping that mechanism alive? And how can we use it for our own benefits?"

What is the American church doing for the Christian Bakers? Why are they silent? Once it starts this way, everyone will be roundly served. It will start with the small fries, the Kim Davies of this world andthese Christian Bakers and then it will move to the big ones. By that time, it will be too late. This is what Muslims would not condone. The Church of Christ in America needs to speak up before this great suppression gains irreversible momentum. The Church needs to be more vocal.

Officials in Oregon have started a legal process to seize $135,000 from Christian bakers Aaron and Melissa Klein after they refused to pay the state-ordered damages for declining to bake a cake for a lesbian marriage ceremony.

 "Our agency has docketed the judgment and is exploring collection options," Charlie Burr, communications director at Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries, told The Daily Signal. "They are entitled to a full and fair review of the case, but do not have the right to disregard a legally binding order." 

It's a preliminary step to seize the Kleins' house, property, or other assets in lieu of payment.

In July, the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries, or BOLI, ordered the Kleins to pay $135,000 for declining to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple, Rachel Cryer and Laurel Bowman, who filed a civil rights complaint against the bakery in 2013 for "emotional, mental, and physical suffering." 

Pentecostal Preacher, Paula White Prays for Donald Trump: 'Any Tongue that Rises Against Him Will Be Condemned'

Florida megachurch pastor and prosperity preacher Paula White prayed for Republican 2016 presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, saying that "any tongue that rises against him will be condemned according to the word of God," and for "a greater encounter" with God.

"Father, we just secure him right now by the blood of Jesus. We thank you that no weapon formed against him will be able to prosper and any tongue that rises against him will be condemned according to the word of God," prayed White, a Florida evangelical preacher with a daily television show on The Word Network.

White was among several other selected Christian leaders and ministry professionals, who prayed for Trump, laying their hands on him, as shown in a video recently posted on YouTube.

"Even as we lay hands on him right now, let Your hand be laid upon him. Let him have a greater encounter with You, a greater encounter with the spirit of God," White went on to say in her prayer.

Russia accuses US of 'pretending' to bomb Isis, Air strikes in Syria to last '3 to 4 months'

Russia's campaign of air strikes in Syria is set to last between three to four months and bombardments will intensify, a senior Russian lawmaker said on 2 October. The announcement comes a day after the US accused Russia of launching "indiscriminate military operations against the Syrian opposition".

"There is always a risk of getting bogged down but, in Moscow, they're talking about three to four months of operations," Alexei Pushkov, the head of the lower house of the Russian parliament's foreign affairs committee, told French radio station, Europe 1. He added that more than 2,500 air strikes in Syria by a US-led coalition against Islamic State (Isis) had yielded no results and was a pretence.

"I think it's the intensity that is important. The US-led coalition has pretended to bomb Daesh (IS) for a year, without results," Pushkov said. "If you do it in a more efficient way, I think you'll see results," he added.

Bakers Refuse to Pay Damages to Lesbian Couple

The owners of a Portland-area bakery are refusing to pay $135,000 in emotional damages to a lesbian couple who they denied service.

Oregon labor commissioner Brad Avakian awarded the damages in July, saying that when owners Melissa and Aaron Klein refused to bake a wedding cake for the couple that they violated their civil rights by discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation.

The women originally sought just $400, the price of one of the Kleins' custom cakes.

The Kleins have appealed Avakian's ruling and are citing financial hardship. Since the ruling, they've had to close their business.
